Try the gauge

This is the gauge’s own drawing code, the same one the can2gauge simulator uses, replaying a drive recorded from it. Swipe it, hold it for the menu, and change the things you’d change on the car.

Loading the drive…

On the glass: drag left or right to change page, hold for the menu, swipe up or down for the menu too, and tap a menu item to open it. On a keyboard: ← → and M.

The drive

Now: Key on0:00

Key on with the boot logo, start, idle, then a loop: pull through the gears, cruise, brake, idle. The SHIFT alert at 5000 rpm is one of the gauge’s triggers.

Pages

Eight pages from the car, plus the Nav page. On a gauge you set each one’s style, source, range and redline in the web UI.

OpenHaldex mode

The drive was recorded once for each mode, so the lock you see is what the simulated coupling did. Swiping the glass’s Haldex screen (menu > Haldex) changes it too.

Display

69 themes, grouped by make. On the car, Match car picks yours from the VIN.

Things worth trying

  1. Hold the glass for the menu

Each item shows a live status. Swipe through Gauges, Haldex, CAN bus, K-line, Output, Gearbox, ADC, Bluetooth OBD, Daisy chain and Settings, then tap CAN bus to watch the IDs on the bus or ADC to see the adc2can sensors.

  2. Put the Haldex in 50:50, then FWD

Watch the Haldex page’s actual-lock arc follow the target. From the menu, the Haldex screen lets you swipe between modes the way you would on the car.

  3. Follow a route on the Nav page

The distance counts down at the car’s speed and the arrow changes at each turn, as it would with can2gauge Link and Google Maps. The ring round the edge fills as the turn gets close.

  4. Match a cluster

Pick your make and era from the theme list. VW goes from green to blue to white over the years; Audi from red to white.

  5. Open Settings on the glass

From the menu, Settings has brightness, CAN termination and a theme picker, all usable with a finger.

How this works

  • REAL

    The gauge’s own drawing

The glass is the simulator’s renderer, a line-for-line port of the firmware’s GaugeUI: the same geometry, fonts, palettes, alerts and menu. The only addition here is the Nav page.

  • RECORDED

    A drive from the simulator

A Mk4 1.8T 4motion with a DSG and OpenHaldex, putting real vw_pq.dbc frames on a virtual bus. Every value the gauge decoded was recorded ten times a second.

  • LIMITS

    What it can’t do

There’s no car behind it, so the K-line and Bluetooth OBD screens say they need one, and nothing you change is saved. The Nav route is made up; its distances follow the car’s speed.
